Ye Old Pancake Station – Amarillo, Texas

October 29, 2015

The handicap spot was taken and that car also blocked part of the ramp to get to the sidewalk, but I made it. Inside was a bit crowded, but we were seated at the first table in front so that was easy to get to. The restroom had no wheelchair access with a very small door.

Pei Wei – Lubbock, Texas

10/28/2015

The handicap parking spot was not too far away, but not right in front either. The door was okay and where the line goes was all right.  The area with the tables was a bit crowded. The restroom was excellent it was a single room and had a ton of space which made it very easy to use.

Tacos N Salsa – San Antonio, Texas

10/28/2015
When we arrived we went inside and I didn’t think I get up to the line very easily because it was, so crowded so dad just pulled out a chair at the table as we looked at the menu up on the wall while we’re doing this group of guys sat down at the table. So we found the only other table that was available. This one was very small and next to the wall. One of the workers moved the chair and I pulled in as mom went to order at the counter. The same worker came back and said that a different table opened up and it might work better for us. It was the same small size table but at least it wasn’t against the wall. So he moved the chair out, but I had to wait for the food line to move so I could get through to that table and before I could get there the owner or manager went past the table waiting for me and moved the chair back in.  Dad told them we were going to sit there and the manager asked he doesn’t want to sit where he is already? So dad explained that there were three of us and the other one was better for us. So eventually we got sat there and a larger table eventually opened up, but we didn’t want to move again. The manager told us he would move all of our stuff over there and we were finally able to eat and our tacos were actually very good.

Trilogy Pizza & Wine Bistro – San Antonio, Texas

10/27/2015

There was okay handicap parking somewhat close. There was plenty of space to get around inside and the table worked well.

The Alamo – San Antonio, Texas

October 27, 2015

This was very old obviously, but there was a rough place to drive over to get there with the cobblestone and when we got to the actual Alamo it was okay going in and looking around I just couldn’t go out the door you are supposed to to leave because there were steps, so I just had to go back out the front. Around the outside there was a nice grassy areas and monument type places. The restroom was really quite terrible it was rather small and a lot of people were using it. I couldn’t even get in the stall so I pretty much just went in my urinal in the corner.

River Walk – San Antonio, Texas

October 27, 2015

Some of the River walk was very narrow and right next to the river which worried me quite a bit with my power wheelchair. The section with all the restaurants had a lot of people and kind of made me feel a little bit uncomfortable. There are elevators every so often to get from street level down to the Riverwalk level. The first one we used worked fine to get down to the Riverwalk, but the elevator we needed to get back up didn’t work. So we had to continue until we found another one.

Original Blanco Café – San Antonio, Texas (near the River walk)

10/27/2015

In downtown San Antonio we parked in a lot somewhere in kind of the same area and walked a few blocks. When we got to this restaurant I really had to go to the bathroom. The main doors were narrow but I made it through when both were held open at the same time. The restroom by the front door was not wheelchair accessible. So they told us that there was another in the back, but before we got there another staff member said it was out of order. So we had to leave the restaurant and there was a bus station about I block away so we went there. The restroom said paying customers only but I didn’t care at that point and no one said anything. Back at the restaurant it was crowded and I needed people to move to get through we were seated in the back room which had quite a bit of space.

Kreuz Market – Lockhart, Texas

10/26/2015

There was nice parking up front. It was not too busy when we were there at maybe two or 3 o’clock. There was easy access through the restaurant.  From the smoker room where you got your meat to the eating area there was a door in between. You also get your sides and drinks in the dining area. The bathroom was nice and worked all right. It was a bit smoky throughout the whole restaurant which made it a little bit harder to breathe.

Lockhart, Texas

October 26, 2015

There were more cutouts to get off the sidewalks than I expected, most worked but weren’t great. All the sidewalks and corners were all a little bit different.  My dad walked and I drove my wheelchair from Black’s barbecue to Smitty’s barbecue’s two of the famous places, there were some bad spots in the sidewalks.

Black's Barbecue – Lockhart, Texas

10/26/2015

There was no wheelchair access to get inside, maybe the exit door but even that was questionable. My parents went in and brought the food out and we sat at one of the picnic tables on the side of the building. I couldn’t quite get under it and had to have help to eat and drink just about everything.

Gristmill restaurant – New Braunfels, Texas

10/25/2015

This was in a busy little area with multiple restaurants and shops and things going on. We finally found a lot to park in with a handicap spot. But had to go a ways and cross the street to get to the restaurant. Then from there, there is a long cobblestone path either that or through the rough grass. When we finally got there. The table was a bit low underneath part anyways and it was a bit difficult to get under with my wheelchair. Then to get to the restroom there was more cobblestone path to get to basically an outhouse with water and I could barely get in and out of it. When we’re done eating I found a paved driveway which saved my back from having to bounce all the way out on the cobblestone.

Morgan's Wonderland – San Antonio, Texas

October 25, 2015

Morgan’s Wonderland had excellent wheelchair access everywhere.  the parking was great with plenty of wheelchair accessible spots. There were family restrooms near the entrance area and in various other places. There were plenty of places to go walking or driving a wheelchair. There were jeeps on a track that you can drive your wheelchair into and ride. There was a carousel, the wheelchair spot was Dragon that you can drive your wheelchair in and it actually went up and down.

There was a train that was not quite big enough so it was a bit difficult for me to get my chair parked in it but once I did it was fun going on the train ride.

There were also wheelchair swings where the wheelchair would go on and be tied down then the volunteer helped me swing. There was also a raised sandbox and raised water thing. A fishing dock which wasn’t open for fishing at the time we were there. This place was an awesome place and I had a lot of fun although I wish I would’ve been able to visit when I was younger and I think I would’ve had even more fun.

We were also very lucky that we were able to visit. That time a year they are only open on the weekends which there was terrible weather and Friday and Saturday so the place was closed because of the rain and whether. But Sunday cleared up enough, so we were able to visit.

Le Peep – San Antonio, Texas

10/25/2015
The Handicap spot was taken so we parked down the strip mall a ways. It was crowded in there in the front because of all the people waiting for breakfast on a Sunday morning.  When we were seated our table worked well.  The bathroom worked all right as well.

Drury Plaza Hotel – San Antonio, Texas

10/21/2015

When we arrived at the Drury inn and suites my mom went in and the first thing they told her was they would get the manager which doesn’t sound good at all. They said the previous people staying in the room extended their stay, so that they would upgrade us to the Drury Plaza Hotel across the parking lot for our whole stay at the cheaper rate we were supposed to pay for. This room was really great, there was plenty of space everywhere.  There was a great bathroom with an excellent roll in shower. I could even get to the window to look out from the ninth floor which was kind of neat. This hotel had floors two through four for the parking garage which had a nice handicap parking spot right next to the elevator. So it was easy to get in and out the hotel. The lobby area which I only went to once was very spacious as was the breakfast and night food area. In the room we still had to sit me down on the corner of the bed and had to drag me up the bed or down the bed to get up.

River City Seafood Grill – San Antonio, Texas

10/24/2015

Here we had to park quite a ways away and had to follow the sidewalk which went between two buildings and had a ramp down and backup. Eventually we made it. There were no major problems inside and the table worked well.

Smoky Moe's Barbeque – San Antonio, Texas

10/24/2015

On this day was pouring rain so we tried to get out of the van and into the place as quick as possible. The handicap spot wasn’t too far away. The counter where you order was fairly low and easy to order at. They brought out the food and you have to fill your own drinks which my parents took care of. The table worked fairly well.

Ajuúa! Mexican Grill– San Antonio, Texas

10/23/2015

The handicap parking was full so we parked out a ways in the parking lot. Inside was good was for space and easy to get through. The place was Kind of dark. The table was good and all right to use although they had a paper tablecloth that was kind of annoying, for me anyways.

Magnolia Pancake Haus – San Antonio Texas

10/23/2015

The parking was okay, not really all that close to the building but not too far away. We had to wait in front for a half an hour and it was a bit crowded inside especially right in front area. When we got to the table it was good for me. The restroom was all right.

San Antonio Botanical Garden – San Antonio, Texas

October 23, 2015

There was decent parking with some good handicap spots. The main building was an older building where you entered and paid and there is the gift shop and the restroom. Which was a little tight in the stall and in the whole restroom really. There were a lot of accessible paths in the garden, but there were a lot of dead in paths that made it a little difficult for a wheelchair user.  Not only wheelchairs but for everyone.

Earl Abel's – San Antonio, Texas

10/22/2015

This was at the end of a strip mall. There were quite a few handicap spots in front you just had to cross the traffic lane in the parking lot. There were quite a few handicap spots mostly because there were a lot of old people going in and out.  There is also a long ramp to go up to get to the door.  Inside was fairly nice for space and our table worked fine.  I’m  not sure what the bathroom was like since I do not use it.
