Taco guild – Phoenix Arizona

March 14, 2017

The parking lot was very crowded and there were only a couple handicap spots which happened to be taken.  Most of the tables were booths or high tables.  So there was a long wait for everyone, but an extra-long wait for us since we needed a low table.  We had to sit out front for a long long time. Then eventually when there was a table for us someone had to move for me to get past to get there, but once we got there the table did work pretty well.   It was really crowded in the place and not too easy to navigate with my wheelchair.

Mi Patio – Phoenix Arizona

March 11, 2017

The parking lot was mostly full when we arrived, but we did find a parking spot in the back that wasn't a handicap spot but it was next to a dumpster so we were able to get out of the van. Once we got inside the floor was tiled and little rough to drive over and right away we found out the bathroom was not accessible which I had to use pretty urgently. So we left and went to find an accessible bathroom once we did this, we came back and we were seated at table that was a little crowded around it and not the easiest to get to, but we made it work.

Goldie's Ice Cream Shoppe– Prairie city Iowa

August 9, 2016

I could barely get in but I made it and the inside was very crowded and the restroom was not wheelchair accessible. The table worked okay, but it was probably the only table that would work.

Chanpen Thai Cusine – Phoenix Arizona

March 3, 2016

This place had a very small parking lot there was a spot right next to the sign and then the sidewalk which left just enough space for a ramp to come out but no one to park next to us. This was a very small building with only about six tables and I could only maybe use three of them.  There was a bit of a bump at the door. Once we got in the table was okay, but it was a little bit hard for my parents to get around to the other side of the table. It was very crowded, but it worked and was well worth it when the food came.

Tacos N Salsa – San Antonio, Texas

10/28/2015
When we arrived we went inside and I didn’t think I get up to the line very easily because it was, so crowded so dad just pulled out a chair at the table as we looked at the menu up on the wall while we’re doing this group of guys sat down at the table. So we found the only other table that was available. This one was very small and next to the wall. One of the workers moved the chair and I pulled in as mom went to order at the counter. The same worker came back and said that a different table opened up and it might work better for us. It was the same small size table but at least it wasn’t against the wall. So he moved the chair out, but I had to wait for the food line to move so I could get through to that table and before I could get there the owner or manager went past the table waiting for me and moved the chair back in.  Dad told them we were going to sit there and the manager asked he doesn’t want to sit where he is already? So dad explained that there were three of us and the other one was better for us. So eventually we got sat there and a larger table eventually opened up, but we didn’t want to move again. The manager told us he would move all of our stuff over there and we were finally able to eat and our tacos were actually very good.

Original Blanco CafĂ© – San Antonio, Texas (near the River walk)

10/27/2015

In downtown San Antonio we parked in a lot somewhere in kind of the same area and walked a few blocks. When we got to this restaurant I really had to go to the bathroom. The main doors were narrow but I made it through when both were held open at the same time. The restroom by the front door was not wheelchair accessible. So they told us that there was another in the back, but before we got there another staff member said it was out of order. So we had to leave the restaurant and there was a bus station about I block away so we went there. The restroom said paying customers only but I didn’t care at that point and no one said anything. Back at the restaurant it was crowded and I needed people to move to get through we were seated in the back room which had quite a bit of space.

Black's Barbecue – Lockhart, Texas

10/26/2015

There was no wheelchair access to get inside, maybe the exit door but even that was questionable. My parents went in and brought the food out and we sat at one of the picnic tables on the side of the building. I couldn’t quite get under it and had to have help to eat and drink just about everything.

Dairy Queen - Milan New Mexico

March 4, 2015

The subway we were going to was closed for remodeling so we eventually stopped at the Dairy Queen in Milan.  The parking lot was okay and I could get in the main door. But barely and I mean barely did I make it in and out of the restroom.  I had to go very slow and had to be directed between things like the trashcan and other things. There were no tables I could get under just booths, so I pulled up as close as I could get to one and needed a ton of help with everything that I can usually do on my own.

Red Iguana Salt Lake City Utah

June 17, 2014

This place was very crowded and not very accessible. The first issue was we had to wait outside for about 45 min. this was okay except for when it started pouring. So mom and I went back to the car and dad waited by the door for our name to be called with an umbrella from the restaurant. Once our wait was up we went in and quite a few people had to move for me to get past and to our table. Once we got there it was a little crowded around the table but after I got my wheelchair parked they could move the table a bit. Then the fun part was trying to get to the bathroom. The restrooms did happen to be quite close to our table, so no other customers had to move for me get past. But there was a little shelf right where I needed to turn. A couple of the staff noticed this and tried to move the shelf but then they noticed the power strip was wrapped around part of the shelf so it wouldn't move without unplugging some things. But on the other side in the corner behind the shelf was a trashcan that they moved and then could move the shelf a bit.  After this I was just barely able to get through. Once we got to the restroom was actually not too bad, a little crowded but a lot better than I expected. On the way back to our table I actually got through a little bit easier because I didn't need to make as sharp of a turn.

The Copper Pot – Englewood CO

February 11, 2014

There was a good handicap parking spot in back or side of building easy to get from there to the door.  The door had a almost ramp right at the door, but need 2 people to hold the 2 doors.  Once inside it wasn’t too bad, I could get around fine and the table worked well. But then to the restroom, you have to go through the washroom door then past a storage room and the women’s room to get to the men’s room.  Just inside the door was a sink in front and to the right and a urinal to the left. Back past the urinal was a tiny stall that I couldn’t get to anyways.  Once inside I had to pull up far enough for my dad to shut the door while reaching over me.  Once we got the door shut I had to turn toward the sink to have enough space to use my urinal.  And I had to hope no one slammed the door open into me.  Once I was done I got a wet paper towel since I couldn’t get to the sink.  Then to get out dad had to reach over me again and I had to go forward without running into him, until the door could open all the way then I had to back all the way out past all the other doors.

The original Garcias - Phoenix Arizona

March 9, 2013

There were two good handicap spots fairly close to the building.  The door was okay and once inside there is a lot of space in the front area and throughout the restaurant.  Inside the floor was little rough to drive over, but I got to where I needed to.  It was not too difficult to get to the table and once there it worked fine. The door to the bathroom was okay, but the stall was really small and I could not get in so I had to go in front of the stall. There was not much space in the bathroom and the sink was not great.

Old Town St. Charles Missouri

September 8, 2012

I knew that Old Town St. Charles would not be too handicap friendly since it is such an old place, but I wanted to see some of the old buildings. The sidewalks were pretty bad and rough to drive my wheelchair over. I could surprisingly get on and off the sidewalks at almost every block. Most of the stores we went past were inaccessible. We could have continued more through old town St. Charles but I was tired of driving over the rough sidewalks.

El bravo - Phoenix Arizona

Information in this post is Accurate as of March 7, 2013

March 9, 2012

When we arrived there was one handicap spot that was full and the parking lot overall was kind of awkward but we parked in a spot next to an open spot so we could have on lot on lot unload I went in planning to use the restroom.  I followed along down the hall where the bathrooms were, but there was a tight turn and there is no way I get my wheelchair to the bathroom. There was also nowhere to turn around so I had to back my wheelchair back down the hall to get out.  So we had to go out in the car again. Everything else was pretty easy to handle as there was plenty of room to get around and the table worked fine.

Feeney's Restaurant and Bar - Phoenix AZ

Information in this post is Accurate as of March 6, 2013

March 7, 2012

Parking was kind of a pain there were one or two handicap spots that were full.   We were early, so we were able to park in back.  There was only one way into the lot in the back which was also the way out. It was not to bad getting into place maybe a little tight around the door area.  Our table worked fine and was easy enough to get to. We ordered and figured we could get to the bathroom and make it back in time for our food, but I couldn't get into the restroom.  There was a sharp turn into a small door so there was no way to get in.  So we had to go out to the van which was unfortunate.  If you don’t need the bathroom, the rest of the place was ok and the food was great.
