Comfort suites – Omaha Nebraska

August 9 through August 11
This hotel had nice parking in front. The building had an automatic door. Inside was quite spacious in the front and easy to get to the elevator. Our room was a two queen accessible room.

This was a nice spacious room with a sitting area up front than the two queen beds that were open underneath which was useful with the Hoyer lift.

It had a nice size bathroom but no roll in shower. It had a tub with bars. The sink was easy to use and it was easy to get to the toilet.

Comfort Inn & Suites Davenport - Quad Cities– Davenport Iowa

August 5 through August 8

There were a couple of handicap spots right in front but we usually ended up parking in the back in non-handicap spots.

Our room was a two queen room with a roll in shower. This was not the most spacious hotel room but it had just enough space for most things. The hoyer could go under the bed.

The bathroom worked well, the sink and toilet as well as the roll in shower. One night they didn’t replace our towels and make our beds and they said it was because we had left our do not disturb sign up, but they were cleaning next-door when we left and we took our sign down. That was one of our issues with the place.

Comfort suites Lincoln Nebraska

August 4, 2016

This wasn’t the easiest hotel to find and the one-way streets around it didn’t help. But when we did finally get there, there was good handicap parking right in front with an automatic door. Our room was on the second floor so we had to use the elevator which worked fine.

There was a large amount of space in our room and are Hoyer lift could go under the bed.

The bathroom was nice and everything worked well.

There was even a roll in shower, but we didn’t use it.

Drury inn and suites Phoenix Airport – Phoenix Arizona

March 2 through March 11, 2015

We arrived a little late on the first night and we couldn’t get the hoyer lift in the right place to get me in and out of bed without moving the bed or the dresser. We went back to the front desk they said they could give us a regular room with a connecting room that had one King and was an accessible room.  we looked at the room it was crowded in the regular room and the one King had plenty of room with a roll in shower, but we didn’t know if I could be heard if I yelled for help in the middle of the night from the King room and I couldn’t use the two queen room because there was not very much space. So we went back down to see if we can have the original two queen room and have them move the bed over a bit or the dresser, so I could get through and to get the lift between the beds. The lady at the desk said they couldn’t do it right now and then let my dad talk to the manager on the phone. The manager said they could have the maintenance man help move the bed in the morning.  But that wouldn’t help us that night. So after a long discussion about what we would do that night in the room not being ADA compliant which the manager said it was although I couldn’t get to the bed. So eventually she said they would try to find someone to help move it. So soon after they found their shuttle driver who came up and helped my dad move the bed over a bit so I could get through to the lift between the beds and to the side of the bed. After this change the room was very nice and worked great.

We could get the Hoyer lift under the bed.

There was plenty of room in the bathroom and the roll in shower worked great.

The sink worked all right, but I did use the one in the kitchen area for brushing my teeth. The desk in the living room worked well too.

There was plenty of room in our suite. There were two doors with terraces. I could only get to one but couldn’t fully get out on the terrace.

Drury Inn and suites - Albuquerque New Mexico

March 1 and March 12, 2016

We stayed at this hotel previously to and from Phoenix, one night went very well but the second time on our way back is why we haven’t been back. We also haven’t been able to find a better place in Albuquerque so we decided to try it again. This was the same exact room it was a bit crowded and there was not too much extra space, so that was difficult.

However the bed was open underneath so the Hoyer lift could go under to pick me up. That made life a lot easier. I usually sleep on the other side of the bed so we did have to drag me across the bed but that wasn’t too bad.

The bathroom was good the sink was all right and the toilet had some room around it. This roll in shower looked all right although we didn’t use it. This room was at the end of the hall with handicap parking right out the door plus it was next to the ice machine. The rest of the hotel lobby and all and food room were all right.

Drury Plaza Hotel – San Antonio, Texas

10/21/2015

When we arrived at the Drury inn and suites my mom went in and the first thing they told her was they would get the manager which doesn’t sound good at all. They said the previous people staying in the room extended their stay, so that they would upgrade us to the Drury Plaza Hotel across the parking lot for our whole stay at the cheaper rate we were supposed to pay for. This room was really great, there was plenty of space everywhere.  There was a great bathroom with an excellent roll in shower. I could even get to the window to look out from the ninth floor which was kind of neat. This hotel had floors two through four for the parking garage which had a nice handicap parking spot right next to the elevator. So it was easy to get in and out the hotel. The lobby area which I only went to once was very spacious as was the breakfast and night food area. In the room we still had to sit me down on the corner of the bed and had to drag me up the bed or down the bed to get up.

Drury inn and suites, Amarillo TX

10/20/2015

Our room at this hotel was a two queen room with a roll in shower. The room was a little bit crowded but there were two rooms. It was hard to turn around just about anywhere.  The bathroom was nice, but the roll in shower looked a bit skinny although I didn’t test it out. The sink was good and so was the toilet with some space around it.  We brought little wood blocks to raise the bed slightly and we had to set me down on the corner of the bed and drag me up to the top. The table in the room was perfect height and easy to get under in the front room. There was pretty good parking and the front area was okay.  Right in front of the elevator on the second floor there wasn’t much space.

Town Place suites Albuquerque New Mexico

March 3 and March 11, 2015

We had a two-room suite with one bed in each room with a living area in between. This room had a good amount of space, but it just was not in the right places. It was nice to have two rooms with a bed in each, but there was not a ton a room around the beds the extra space was all in the living area. The floor in the bathroom was kind of lopsided. The sink was okay to use. There was a roll in shower that I didn’t a chance to use, but it looked a little on the skinny side. There was a table in the room that was very nice and worked great to get under and use. Since there wasn’t a lot of room around the bed and the lift wouldn’t go under anyways we had to sit me down on the corner and slid me up the bed.

Springhill Suites Salt Lake City airport

June 16-20

This is the hotel we stayed in for our time in Salt Lake City. We had made reservations for a two Queen accessible room with a roll in shower. When we arrived the place was very accessible with an automatic door to get in the front and plenty of space in the lobby area. When checking in my mom asked to make sure that there was a roll in shower because we've had that problem before. They said yes it did. So we go up to the room and I go look in the bathroom and there's a tub. So back downstairs we go. When we returned to tell them at the front desk that there was no roll in shower they acted very surprised. Apparently their computer system has that room marked as a two Queen with a roll in shower. So the one lady at the front desk took a list of the handicapped rooms available and went to check to see if they had what their supposed to have. When she came back she said they didn't have any two Queens with a roll in showers available tonight. So she tried to call around to other hotels after this didn't turn up anything she said we could stay in the room without the roll in shower for one night at a discount and then move in the morning for the rest of our stay. Since this was our best option we took it. And it worked okay except for being a pain to have to move everything and taking up time.

These rooms were both about the same with two Queen beds and a bit of a sitting area with a couch. For the bathrooms there were basically two of them one with the toilet and sink and one with a shower and sink. In our accessible room I tried to get in the bathroom and could not fit in with my power chair. The door was wide enough however because of where the beds were you couldn’t come straight into the door meaning you had to pull up to the door and turn in. So I wasn't able to get into either the bathroom rooms with my power chair. But the good news was my shower/toilet chair fit in. The roll in shower worked all right but was a little on the skinny side and a little extra space in the shower would've been nice.

Also in the room was a table that worked well for me to get under which was good since that's where I had to brush my teeth. The best part was my hoyer lift could go underneath the bed which was great since we didn't have to move me around so much to get in and out of it.

Courtyard by Marriott Albuquerque New Mexico

March 4, 2014 and March 12, 2014

We were in a two Queen accessible room with a roll in shower. This was located on the first floor. One of the beds was smaller than the other I think maybe a queen and a double, but either way it worked for us. We couldn't get the lift under the bed all the way. We still had to drag me to the corner of the bed but the lift went further under the corner of the bed than expected. This wasn't the most spacious room but it was doable to get everything done at night and in the morning. There was a sliding bathroom door which was good.

The bathroom had a decent roll in shower and the toilet was easy enough to get to.  However the fan in the bathroom was loud and had to be on when the light was on so I went in the dark.

There was a table/desk in the room that was nice and worked well for me as it was easy to get under.
