My favorite muffin - Grand Junction CO

This is located in a Safeway strip mall. We were not able to park got real close, but it wasn't too for a way. Inside was spacious and easy to get to the counter there were also plenty of tables I could use (although we took ours to go). The restroom was excellent for accessibility and worked great.

Not the best parking the handicap spots were full so we parked in a corner spot which had barely enough space to get in the van. Inside it was very crowded in front. I couldn’t get under the first table very well since it had a weaved basket type thing underneath, but they moved us to another table which had the same thing, but I could get under this one a little bit further. The bathroom is very crowded and I could only partially get in the stall.

Night two

This night we had to park further out but still a handicap spot that was closer to the swimming pool that was next door. This night our seats were on the third base side and the bleacher section. My parents found couple folding chairs so they could sit with me. There was hardly any room for me to park my wheelchair and people basically had to crawl over me to get past. But it was up close right behind the visitors’ dugout the screen made it harder to see the ball, but I was glad it was there.  There were multiple family accessible restrooms throughout the stadium.

There was a small parking lot with two handicap spots and there was good loading areas and in accessible porta potty. There was a paved trail which was nice but there was limited shade, there were a few benches along the way. This day it got a little hot. There was also in accessible fishing pier.

Strayhorn Grill – Loma Colorado

The parking lot was gravel but the handicap spots were flat cement. But they were on the auctions end of the building with the restaurant on the other end, but there was a sidewalk to get there or I could go inside the building. Inside had quite a bit of space. the restroom was down the hall from the restaurant which was very easy to get to and very accessible. The handicap stall was great, it was also easy to get to the sink, but when I got to the sink I couldn’t turn the water because it was too hard to turn the faucet. In the restaurant there was quite a bit of space and the table worked great.

Night one

 

There was good handicap parking that was fairly close to the Stadium with enough loading area. It was easy to get through the gate, which we had to go to the side to get through since the turnstile would not work for me. From there we had to use the elevator to get to our seats in the ADA Pavilion. When we got there it was just a big open area with easy access to the seats which were all folding chairs that were movable.  This was next to a very accessible family type restroom this was great and we never had to wait.

 

 But now to the seats it was easy to park and had plenty of room but the view was obstructed by the sideways horizontal bars which was extremely annoying when trying to watch a baseball game.  There was also no concession stands up there so my parents had to go back down to get food which happened to be on dollar hot dog night.

Dinosaur journey – Fruita Colorado

There were a hand full handicap spots and easy entry into the building and to the video room was big and easy to get into. Also the place was open and very accessible, but there were steps up to look down into the lab which is not wheelchair accessible. The store was average for a gift shop some places were harder to get through than others.  The restroom worked well.

Which wich – Grand Junction Colorado

There was a handicapped spot or maybe two close to the building.  Inside was fairly accessible; in front there is room for you to mark on your bag with what you want on your sandwich. The counter where you pay was okay and worked fine. Where you pick up your sandwiches the counter was rather high and the drinks were fill your own. It was a little difficult to get to and park under the table; it was a little tight and crowded around the table.

Western Colorado botanical Gardens – Grand Junction Colorado

This was a small garden. The parking lot was kind of small but there were three or four handicap spots from there it was easy to get to the building.  The butterfly house was kind of crowded and there were minimal places where I could turn around. The trails outside were mostly accessible, except a few places here and there were not very easy to get through or to. The bathroom you had to come back out of the garden to the other side of the building this was very accessible and I had plenty of room.

Springhill suites – Grand Junction Colorado

This was next door to where we had breakfast at the dream Café. I had read that they had accessible rooms, so we visited to see. They had a King room with a roll in shower or two Queens with a roll in shower. The two Queen roll in shower was what we would need so we looked at that one. This was a great room with plenty of space.  The bathrooms were really two different rooms one with a sink and a large roll in shower.  The other room had a sink and toilet.  Also the bed was open underneath so our lift would've gone under. We were already staying elsewhere but this would more of what we need and very accessible.

Dream Café – Grand Junction Colorado

This was located in the downtown area there was a handicapped parking spot that was fairly close. There was one door to get in and one door to get out both worked well.  We got a big table with half booth seating and half chairs which worked great with plenty of extra space. I don't think I could've gotten to the rest room.

Clarion Inn – Grand Junction Colorado

August 19, 2013 – August 23, 2013

This is a fairly large hotel with two floors but without an elevator. There was some handicap parking in front with an automatic door to get into the building which I didn't actually ever use. We had to go to the back and to door F to get to our handicapped accessible room that was supposed to have two doubles and a roll in shower. But at door F there was no cut out to get onto the sidewalk. So we had to go down a ways to door E. There were no handicap parking spots near either door, but we never had trouble finding room to park.

 

When we finally made it to our room it was very tight and crowded but I could get between the beds if I backed in.

 

The table worked okay but it was difficult to get to. The light switches were very high especially for an accessible room.

 

 

The sink was good height but the bathroom door had to be shut for me to get there as it opened right in front of the sink.

 

The bathroom was not all that big and was kind of crowded my shower/ toilet chair worked fine for the toilet.

 

The "roll in shower" was too narrow for my shower chair so I had an interesting shower sitting off-center with two wheels in and wheels out. My lift could not go under the bed so we had to slide me to the corner of the bed which happens in most places.

Enzo's Italian restaurant – Grand Junction Colorado

We walked/drove my wheelchair from the Clarion inn.  The sidewalks were okay along the way. The parking lot of this strip mall was mostly empty so I drove through the parking lot with no problem.  The inside wasn't the most spacious place there was a couple tight areas to get through. Our table worked just fine.
