Springhill Suites Salt Lake City airport

This is the hotel we stayed in for our time in Salt Lake City. We had made reservations for a two Queen accessible room with a roll in shower. When we arrived the place was very accessible with an automatic door to get in the front and plenty of space in the lobby area. When checking in my mom asked to make sure that there was a roll in shower because we've had that problem before. They said yes it did. So we go up to the room and I go look in the bathroom and there's a tub. So back downstairs we go. When we returned to tell them at the front desk that there was no roll in shower they acted very surprised. Apparently their computer system has that room marked as a two Queen with a roll in shower. So the one lady at the front desk took a list of the handicapped rooms available and went to check to see if they had what their supposed to have. When she came back she said they didn't have any two Queens with a roll in showers available tonight. So she tried to call around to other hotels after this didn't turn up anything she said we could stay in the room without the roll in shower for one night at a discount and then move in the morning for the rest of our stay. Since this was our best option we took it. And it worked okay except for being a pain to have to move everything and taking up time.

 

 

 

These rooms were both about the same with two Queen beds and a bit of a sitting area with a couch. For the bathrooms there were basically two of them one with the toilet and sink and one with a shower and sink. In our accessible room I tried to get in the bathroom and could not fit in with my power chair. The door was wide enough however because of where the beds were you couldn’t come straight into the door meaning you had to pull up to the door and turn in. So I wasn't able to get into either the bathroom rooms with my power chair. But the good news was my shower/toilet chair fit in. The roll in shower worked all right but was a little on the skinny side and a little extra space in the shower would've been nice.

 

Also in the room was a table that worked well for me to get under which was good since that's where I had to brush my teeth. The best part was my hoyer lift could go underneath the bed which was great since we didn't have to move me around so much to get in and out of it.

When we arrived here there was a very good handicap parking spot right in front.  Then when we entered the restaurant they told to sit wherever we thought would work best.   This was nice because sometimes they try to sit you at places that will not work like a booth. We picked a table that worked well. It was easy to get to the condiment and topping bar for your burger. Before we left I went to the restroom and the only problem was there were some chairs that were in the way down the hallway toward the bathroom. My dad moved a couple of them so I could get to the restroom. This was a very good restroom, pretty big and was very accessible.

We parked in the parking lot that is across the street up in the front were the handicap spots. So we just had to cross the street to get to the Stadium. We went in the gate on the third base side. There are steps just inside the gate to go up. But there is also a ramp immediately to the left after entering the gate which gets you up to the top. We used both a regular restroom which worked okay but not really all that great and a family accessible restroom which worked well. One of our seats down the first base side was a bit obstructed unless you are leaning forward but they exchanged the tickets to a couple sections over.

This place had good parking maybe not a huge lot though. We were also early so there were spots available. Inside is very easy to get around and our table worked great although it was the second one we tried as the first one was wobbly. The only real problem is the counter was really high where you order which made it a little difficult.

This garden is located at the University of Utah. The handicapped parking was all full when we got there so we parked out further and down to the lower part of the parking lot. So we had to walk a bit of a ways back to the building.  It was easy to get in the door. From here you had to go up an elevator and right near where you get out of the elevator is a very nice bathroom. Then to get to the garden you exit out one of the many doors. Most of the trails were accessible and there were quite a few places to sit and rest. There is a little trail that was very steep not too far from the main building.

Parking was not so great but at the time we were there it wasn't exactly full. So we parked where we had room. Then we walked up to the restaurant and since we have been here before we knew we couldn’t get in the front door, it goes up steps into the original diner car. So we went and in the side door by the patio where a waiter opened the door for us since we wanted to sit inside. They moved the chairs for our table for me to have room, but they moved them to the hall toward the bathroom. So they ended up in my way there. But once I made it to the bathroom I was very impressed with the bathroom, it was very accessible and much more than I thought it would be. Also our table worked very well for me.

There was street parking which we used right by the ticket window. The lady at the ticket window said she wasn't sure how to do handicap tickets. Eventually she sold us one handicap seat and two seats in the row in front. This wasn't much of an issue because there weren’t a lot of people there anyways. The restroom was all right, the stall was okay. To get up to the handicap seats there was a small elevator that we had to use. Once we got up to the top there was quite a bit of space up there and even a concession stand. However there was no restroom up here.

There was a nice parking lot just down the street where it was easy to get on the sidewalk. The sidewalk was easy enough to navigate back to the restaurant. Right at the door there was a fairly large bump. Inside the counter area was all right. From there it was easy for me to get through the restaurant to a table that worked well. There was absolutely no way I could use the restroom but everything else was all right.

This place was connected to an apartment complex. There was a little bit of parking for the restaurant and we found the fairly good handicap parking spot. Getting in was okay there were two doors but was easy enough to do. Inside we found a fairly good place to sit and the table worked well. For the restroom you have to get a key from the restaurant and go down the hall. There was a ton of space in the restroom and it was easy to get to the sink but the paper towels I could not reach.

Ogden's George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park Ogden Utah

There were a good number of handicap parking spots and was easy to get to the door from there. Inside the building there is a small dinosaur Museum and there was a little bit more upstairs with an elevator to get there. Outside there are plenty of accessible trails around with plenty of model dinosaurs to look at. Some places and things like certain bridges and parts of trails weren’t accessible. The one restroom I used was a pretty good and accessible one.

This place was very crowded and not very accessible. The first issue was we had to wait outside for about 45 min. this was okay except for when it started pouring. So mom and I went back to the car and dad waited by the door for our name to be called with an umbrella from the restaurant. Once our wait was up we went in and quite a few people had to move for me to get past and to our table. Once we got there it was a little crowded around the table but after I got my wheelchair parked they could move the table a bit. Then the fun part was trying to get to the bathroom. The restrooms did happen to be quite close to our table, so no other customers had to move for me get past. But there was a little shelf right where I needed to turn. A couple of the staff noticed this and tried to move the shelf but then they noticed the power strip was wrapped around part of the shelf so it wouldn't move without unplugging some things. But on the other side in the corner behind the shelf was a trashcan that they moved and then could move the shelf a bit.  After this I was just barely able to get through. Once we got to the restroom was actually not too bad, a little crowded but a lot better than I expected. On the way back to our table I actually got through a little bit easier because I didn't need to make as sharp of a turn.

There was a parallel handicap spot next to the building. There was also a bump at the door at this place as well. Inside was good and easy to get around and they even gave us an extra-large table that worked well.

Two handicap spots right in front. Right at the door there was a ledge which made a big bump to go over. Inside wasn't too bad but crowded here and there. But then came the fun part when I had to go to the restroom.  It was way back there at the back it seemed like we had to keep going forever to get there. Inside I couldn't quite get in the stall so I used my urinal in front, but the stall door and bathroom door kept getting in the way and it was difficult to get to the sink.
