Whataburger – Lubbock, Texas

It was kind of chilly and rainy on this day but driving through we stopped Whataburger for lunch.  The counter was easy enough to get to and they bring your food out to you and all the condiments and everything. But most of the tables and booths wouldn’t work for me but there were a few handicap accessible tables and the one we chose worked quite well. The bathroom was all right not great, but I could do everything I needed to do.

Our room at this hotel was a two queen room with a roll in shower. The room was a little bit crowded but there were two rooms. It was hard to turn around just about anywhere.  The bathroom was nice, but the roll in shower looked a bit skinny although I didn’t test it out. The sink was good and so was the toilet with some space around it.  We brought little wood blocks to raise the bed slightly and we had to set me down on the corner of the bed and drag me up to the top. The table in the room was perfect height and easy to get under in the front room. There was pretty good parking and the front area was okay.  Right in front of the elevator on the second floor there wasn’t much space.

There was good parking pretty close to the door to door in the area around it was all right and easy enough to get in. There were a lot of high tables and booths that wouldn’t work for me. The shorter table they sat us at was a little difficult to get to and to get under, so they had to move the table a little bit and the lady at the next table had to move as well.

There were handicap spots right in front of the place. Inside was a bit crowded between all the tables. The place where you fill out your form on what you want on your sandwich with a little high which made a little difficult for me to fill it out. The restroom was in the back so once you found your way past all the tables there is actually really nice and accessible restroom.

Town Place suites Albuquerque New Mexico

We had a two-room suite with one bed in each room with a living area in between. This room had a good amount of space, but it just was not in the right places. It was nice to have two rooms with a bed in each, but there was not a ton a room around the beds the extra space was all in the living area. The floor in the bathroom was kind of lopsided. The sink was okay to use. There was a roll in shower that I didn’t a chance to use, but it looked a little on the skinny side. There was a table in the room that was very nice and worked great to get under and use. Since there wasn’t a lot of room around the bed and the lift wouldn’t go under anyways we had to sit me down on the corner and slid me up the bed.

This is a small place.  The biggest table they had available had a bar which would hit me just below my knees so that didn’t work so good. So we took the only other table available which was too small for the three of us, but we found a way to make it work.

 We walked and drove my wheelchair from the hotel. The sidewalk was decent between the two places, besides a rough spot or two.  Inside the place was all right and the table worked just fine maybe a tad on the low side but not bad.

There was not great parking here, we parked out a ways in the parking lot.  The table was okay if I parked at the right place and got the table leg between my foot rests. The bathroom was a pretty nice and accessible bathroom.

This had good parking and plenty of it since the building was closed due to budget cuts. So since the building was closed there were no restrooms.  There was a pretty nice trail there with two loops; the regular loop and the challenge loop.  The challenge loop was a little bit steeper but not too noticeable in a power wheelchair. I really liked this trail the only problem was he was way too hot for me that day.

There was no cut out to get on the sidewalk at the front door, but you could come around on the sidewalk from the other side. The other door worked all right and they told us that either door was okay to use. The bathroom was easy to get to an easy enough to use.

This place had a big parking lot and we didn’t use the handicap spots. This place was okay for accessibility although there wasn’t a ton of space up in the front of the restaurant. The tables were okay to use and get under. The bathroom I would not have made it in.

This Stadium had okay parking, but we did have to walk a bit to get to the stadium.  There was a nice family room or two. It was pretty accessible around the whole concourse, but it was crowded because of the amount of people. Our seats were all right, they were down the first base line in right field and fairly easy to get to. They were in the sun for a fair amount of the game but toward the end we got the shade.

There were only one or two handicap spots. We were there on a Friday night, we tried to get there early to beat the rush, but I don’t think we did. We couldn’t use the handicap spot, but we found another space.  We went on in but then we had to wait for quite a while, the front area was very crowded with all the people waiting. Once our table is ready someone had to move their chair for us to get through. Once we got to the table we had no problems with that or the space around it or anything. When we were done I had to go the restroom so we had to go back all the way through the restaurant and pass the bar area and get past all the people that were waiting. Once we get back toward the bathroom there some highchairs are in the way and a staff member helped us move them. Then we get into the bathroom and the stall is not big enough for me to get in so I just went in front in my urinal.

The main building was locked because we got here after they closed. There is pretty good handicap parking. The building was locked but the restrooms were still open they were very dark and cold inside but it was pretty accessible. The area around the building was nice with sidewalks around. The first trail was very accessible and very nice.

There was a handicap spot just down the street but had to go toward the intersection to get onto the sidewalk. It was a bit steep to get into the building like they added a ramp to a non-accessible building to make it accessible. This was an old building it was all right up front and there was a slightly skinny hall back to the restrooms which were actually very accessible.

There were a few handicap spots and a few handicap tables. It was easy to get in and out of this place in the bathroom was a good accessible restroom the only problem was there were people all over the place which made a little difficult to get around.

There is a very nice visitor center with handicap parking and handicap restrooms.  They had two handicap/barrier free trails.  The first one was the Black Rock Short Loop which was 0.5 miles long, I really liked this one and thought it was a very nice trail. The waterfall trail was Barrier-free for the first 0.5 mile, this one was a bit rough and worn in places and at the end I couldn’t even get to the waterfall.

This had mall parking, but it was not too far away.  Inside was a bit crowded in many places. This is like a chipotle type line. I sat in between two small tables which were a little uneven but at least I could get under it.

The subway we were going to was closed for remodeling so we eventually stopped at the Dairy Queen in Milan.  The parking lot was okay and I could get in the main door. But barely and I mean barely did I make it in and out of the restroom.  I had to go very slow and had to be directed between things like the trashcan and other things. There were no tables I could get under just booths, so I pulled up as close as I could get to one and needed a ton of help with everything that I can usually do on my own.

There are two handicap spots in front and a brick path in front. Inside there is some room to sit and rest, there were a couple tight places.  The restroom was a decent size and had a decent stall and I could get to the sink. Just don’t go there when there’s a broke down train with all the passengers all over the place, in the parking lot and inside.

This rest area has good parking and a nice indoor area and space to rest. The main restroom is okay, but the stalls aren’t that big.  There is a family/accessible restroom that is nice when it’s unlocked but most of the times we’ve been there it’s been locked.
