Trilogy Pizza & Wine Bistro – San Antonio, Texas

10/27/2015

There was okay handicap parking somewhat close. There was plenty of space to get around inside and the table worked well.

The Alamo – San Antonio, Texas

October 27, 2015

This was very old obviously, but there was a rough place to drive over to get there with the cobblestone and when we got to the actual Alamo it was okay going in and looking around I just couldn’t go out the door you are supposed to to leave because there were steps, so I just had to go back out the front. Around the outside there was a nice grassy areas and monument type places. The restroom was really quite terrible it was rather small and a lot of people were using it. I couldn’t even get in the stall so I pretty much just went in my urinal in the corner.

River Walk – San Antonio, Texas

October 27, 2015

Some of the River walk was very narrow and right next to the river which worried me quite a bit with my power wheelchair. The section with all the restaurants had a lot of people and kind of made me feel a little bit uncomfortable. There are elevators every so often to get from street level down to the Riverwalk level. The first one we used worked fine to get down to the Riverwalk, but the elevator we needed to get back up didn’t work. So we had to continue until we found another one.

Original Blanco Café – San Antonio, Texas (near the River walk)

10/27/2015

In downtown San Antonio we parked in a lot somewhere in kind of the same area and walked a few blocks. When we got to this restaurant I really had to go to the bathroom. The main doors were narrow but I made it through when both were held open at the same time. The restroom by the front door was not wheelchair accessible. So they told us that there was another in the back, but before we got there another staff member said it was out of order. So we had to leave the restaurant and there was a bus station about I block away so we went there. The restroom said paying customers only but I didn’t care at that point and no one said anything. Back at the restaurant it was crowded and I needed people to move to get through we were seated in the back room which had quite a bit of space.

Kreuz Market – Lockhart, Texas

10/26/2015

There was nice parking up front. It was not too busy when we were there at maybe two or 3 o’clock. There was easy access through the restaurant.  From the smoker room where you got your meat to the eating area there was a door in between. You also get your sides and drinks in the dining area. The bathroom was nice and worked all right. It was a bit smoky throughout the whole restaurant which made it a little bit harder to breathe.

Lockhart, Texas

October 26, 2015

There were more cutouts to get off the sidewalks than I expected, most worked but weren’t great. All the sidewalks and corners were all a little bit different.  My dad walked and I drove my wheelchair from Black’s barbecue to Smitty’s barbecue’s two of the famous places, there were some bad spots in the sidewalks.

Black's Barbecue – Lockhart, Texas

10/26/2015

There was no wheelchair access to get inside, maybe the exit door but even that was questionable. My parents went in and brought the food out and we sat at one of the picnic tables on the side of the building. I couldn’t quite get under it and had to have help to eat and drink just about everything.

Gristmill restaurant – New Braunfels, Texas

10/25/2015

This was in a busy little area with multiple restaurants and shops and things going on. We finally found a lot to park in with a handicap spot. But had to go a ways and cross the street to get to the restaurant. Then from there, there is a long cobblestone path either that or through the rough grass. When we finally got there. The table was a bit low underneath part anyways and it was a bit difficult to get under with my wheelchair. Then to get to the restroom there was more cobblestone path to get to basically an outhouse with water and I could barely get in and out of it. When we’re done eating I found a paved driveway which saved my back from having to bounce all the way out on the cobblestone.

Morgan's Wonderland – San Antonio, Texas

October 25, 2015

Morgan’s Wonderland had excellent wheelchair access everywhere.  the parking was great with plenty of wheelchair accessible spots. There were family restrooms near the entrance area and in various other places. There were plenty of places to go walking or driving a wheelchair. There were jeeps on a track that you can drive your wheelchair into and ride. There was a carousel, the wheelchair spot was Dragon that you can drive your wheelchair in and it actually went up and down.

There was a train that was not quite big enough so it was a bit difficult for me to get my chair parked in it but once I did it was fun going on the train ride.

There were also wheelchair swings where the wheelchair would go on and be tied down then the volunteer helped me swing. There was also a raised sandbox and raised water thing. A fishing dock which wasn’t open for fishing at the time we were there. This place was an awesome place and I had a lot of fun although I wish I would’ve been able to visit when I was younger and I think I would’ve had even more fun.

We were also very lucky that we were able to visit. That time a year they are only open on the weekends which there was terrible weather and Friday and Saturday so the place was closed because of the rain and whether. But Sunday cleared up enough, so we were able to visit.
