Saz’s State house milwaukee wi

September 14, 2011.

There were a couple of handicapped spots that were full so we had to park further out into the parking lot. The front door was not accessible so we had to use the handicap entrance which was in the side of the building. I had to go up a ramp to a door that was marked as handicapped. When inside we went through the restaurant to the front to get seated. The inside seemed okay there were plenty of tables that were accessible for a wheelchair. We did not try the bathroom.

Miller Park Milwaukee Wisconsin

The handicapped parking was right up close. They wanted us to park in a parking spot but we couldn’t because our ramp came out on the other side so when they finally figured out what we meant, they let us park in a different spot. The main concourse was very easy to get around him easy enough to get to the concessions. The Brewer store was busy and was very crowded. Our seats were ok with a good view. There were multiple family rooms, one of the regular rooms would have worked ok, but a non-handicap person was using the one handicap stall.

Oak leaf trail Milwukee WI

This trail was along Lake Michigan. It was a good paved trail to drive my chair on. There were some restrooms that were okay and some that were hard to get into. There were quite a few places to sit every so often. The parking lot was a good, but I don't think there were too many handicapped spots but that day at least it wasn't very full so we had room to park.

Qdoba Milwaukee Wisconsin

September 13, 2011

We were going to go to a Korean restaurant but it really didn't look accessible. Just down the street was a Qdoba. This was a basic Qdoba you go, just like any other one. The counter was a little high, there was enough space to get around a little bit, the bathroom was a good-sized room that worked well and the Table worked good to.

Milwaukee public market

September 14, 2011

The parking garage had free one hour parking with a purchase. The handicapped parking was good with plenty of spaces with plenty of space. Inside was kind of crowded, but I could get most of the way around the place but it was hard to get into some places. There was an elevator to the top floor where there were tables which we did not use. We went outside where there were a few tables, which we used to eat our frozen custard. Kehrs custard was where we got the custard. They kind of had a high counter but I was able to get my order.

Ruby Tuesday Milwaukee Wisconsin

September 12, 2001

After driving up to Green Bay, we just wanted to get back to the hotel which was next to the ruby Tuesday so we went to Ruby Tuesday. It was next to the hotel but there was no sidewalk between the hotel and their lot, so I drove through the parking lot. There was one place to get on the sidewalk at the building so I had to drive through the parking lot quite a ways. Inside we were seated at a good table. The space was good and there was room to get around inside plus the Wi-Fi worked well.

Titletown brewing Green Bay Wisconsin

September 12, 2011

The handicapped parking was more weird it look like it was hard to get too so we just parked out in the parking lot always and drove my wheelchair up to the place. This place is in an old train depot, it was easy enough to get into. The table was okay and it helped that it wasn't real crowded in there. The bathroom work barely. I could barely fit into the stall and barely use to sink.

Botanas Mexican restaurant Milwaukee Wisconsin

September 11, 2011

The front door was not accessible, but we pulled into the lot next to the building that had an attendant. We told him I in a wheelchair and let us use the parallel handicap spots. Which then put our ramp out into the road into the parking lot. The attendant at the station told them inside that I was in a wheelchair and someone came out and held the door to get inside which was up a ramp. This worked fine. The first bathroom we saw was not accessible, but our waiter showed us to the accessible bathroom. This was a pretty good bathroom. The sink was good for me and the stall I think would have worked, but was full. Inside the building it was little tight in places and a little hard to get around but it was okay. This was not the most accessible place, but they did everything they could to make it easier.

Milwaukee Brat House Milwaukee Wisconsin

September 11, 2011

We parked in a parking lot on a Sunday and the whole lot was empty. The parking lot was kind of rough to drive across; I had to be careful when I drove my wheelchair so I didn’t hit a hole. We probably had to walk about a block or two to get to the restaurant, and the sidewalk was really rough, mostly because Milwaukee is really old. I was able to get across it through it. A few tables in this place work good, the rest where booths and at the bar. The table we sat at was in front of a TV which was good for a Sunday for football. There was no way I can get into the bathroom.

Charley’s grilled subs Rockford Illinois

September 10, 2011

This is located in mall food court. There were handicap spots where you can get onto the sidewalk that goes towards the door. The doors were not automatic so someone would have to open them for me. The counter was kind of high and hard to hear them and probably hard for them to hear me, but they got my order right. The table was very good in the food court very good and very easy to get under. Close to the food court was the restrooms. There was a family room that was very accessible, with a ton of space.

Comfort Inn Dubuque Iowa.

There was a handicapped spot that we could let the ramp out of the car under the roof of the building that worked okay. There was no automatic door so I would need help for me to get in. The first thing about the room is it was not advertised as an accessible room. The hotel room door was a little tight to get into and difficult to get into.

In the room there was no way into the bathroom and my parents could hardly too. I couldn’t fit between the TV/dresser and the ends of the bed. There was not much space to park my wheelchair just next to the bathroom and we could turn the TV, so I could kind of see it.

But we were here just that night and we got there kind of late. We had to use the lift at the corner of the bed and slide me up, this kind of worked but not real good.

This place was not very accessible, but you can’t really be mad at the hotel since they did not actually lie or promise something they didn’t have( that’s coming soon).

Country Junction Dyersville Iowa

We were in Dyersville to see this field of dreams movie site, and we stopped here for dinner. There were two handicapped parking spots directly in front of the door, which worked good with plenty of loading space. When we got into the place, it looked good and easy to get into and to the table, but then we went to the restroom. When we got to the restroom there was no way I could get in. You had to go in and turn immediately, so we went to the front and they said that they didn't have another accessible restroom so we had to go back out to the car. We were really hungry so we didn't want to have to pack up and go somewhere else. The table was good and easy to get under and there was plenty of room around the table, so other than the bathroom this place is pretty good

Wendy's, Ames Iowa

There was handicapped parking that was good, but we had to cross the drive through/traffic lane to get to the building. In the building there was plenty of room to get in line and to get to the bathroom. In the dining area the tables were small and a little hard to get under but I got between two of them and used the tray to fill the gap. The bathroom stall and bathroom were very good and quite a bit of room, the sink was a little difficult to get to over in the corner but other than that it was very good bathroom.

Danish Windmill, Elkhorn IA

After our stop in Omaha we are continuing on our way to Milwaukee.   We made a stop in Elkhorn, Iowa.  There was a Danish Windmill that we decided to visit.  There was a handicapped parking spot near the windmill at the store.  There was a little bit of a bump to get in but not real bad and inside was a little crowded.  I could get into the bathroom, there was no door.  I however was not able to get into the stall.  Across the parking lot was a Danish restaurant, but in the entry there was a kind of a step or bump or ledge that I couldn’t get over to get in so we continued on our way.

Comfort suites, Council Bluffs IA

9/7- 9/8

A few years ago we stayed at this hotel and were surprised to find a roll in shower after their website didn’t mention it. So we remembered this place and we were coming through again so we made sure we booked the 2 Queen Accessible room again.

There was a roll in shower which worked okay it wasn't quite wide enough for my shower chair and the grab bar was kind of in my way a little bit, but it might help someone. The shower worked ok but it kind of made a mess when the water leaked out, but it wasn't too bad. The bathroom was a good size and I could actually use the sink unlike most hotels. The toilet was easy to get to maybe not quite enough room on one side for someone to help me but it was okay. I could park my wheelchair between the two beds with plenty of room and I could see the TV well from there. It also had plenty of room every where else.

Jerico's Omaha, Nebraska.

September 8, 2011.

There was a little bit of a bump to get on the ramp to the building and then when you get to the building you have to go in the door and immediately turn and go through another door which we were able to do with not too much trouble. When inside the table and chairs were a little close to each other which made it hard to get through to get to the bathroom. On the way to the bathrooms you pass the kitchen which was neat to be able to see into. When we got back to the bathroom, the door was a little tight to get into and then when in the bathroom I couldn’t fit in the stall so I parked in front of the urinal on the wall and went there. Then later when the meal came my mom started cutting up my prime rib when the waitress noticed her having to do this and she said they can cut it up in the back so she took the plate and she returned quickly with the plate with the meat cut up for me. So while the place was not very accessible from the bathroom to getting through the restaurant and the door, they were very accommodating in having my meat cut up which helped make the meal with a great prime rib even better.

Cracker Barrel, Council Bluffs Iowa

September 8, 2011.

There was plenty of handicap parking just like all Cracker Barrel's but this handicap parking was on the side of the building so you would have to walk around to the front. It was like any other Cracker Barrel some areas of the store are a little tight. The table was okay; it had enough room and was fairly easy to get under. The legs might've been a little close together, but it was okay. The bathroom was pretty decent bathroom just like most Cracker Barrels.

Subway Lincoln NE

9/7/2011

The Subway was in a gas station there was handicapped parking right out front but you had to either go in the gas station or in the restaurant at the other end and the subway was in between. The line and the counter work just like any other subway. The table we picked was a handicap table but the trashcan was blocking part of it but I could get in from the end. I had to sit at the end of the table instead of the side that was the handicap side but it worked okay. The bathroom was in the gas station part. You had to find your way back to it but when I got there it was a pretty good bathroom. The stall had plenty of room and there was plenty of room around the sink and was easy to use.

Arby's Sidney, NE

9/7/2011
There were a couple handicapped parking spots on the side of the building but I then had to come behind the car to get to the ramp. In the door area it was maybe a little tight but not too bad there is room around the counter and around. There was a handicapped accessible table that worked great. The bathroom had a large stall, but had a drain in the middle of it which just sloped down to the middle which made it hard for me to park on a flat spot the sink was okay in. This bathroom was pretty good.

Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, Ft. Collins CO

August 3, 2011

I met a friend at Buffalo wild wings for lunch. I got dropped off in one of the two handicap spots by the next store. One spot was on the side that we needed for the ramp part of the van, it was not a very big loading zone and if there was a car in the next spot there probably would not have been enough room to unload.

There are two sets of doors in the front with quite a bit of room in the front area and around the doors. The bathroom is fairly easy to get in it was one little tight around the door into the bathroom and the stall door since they were close together but there was enough room in the stall and quite a bit room in front of the sink area. I could get to most of the tables some of them were a little hard to get to but most of them will work fine for a wheelchair.

Hard Rock Cafe Denver CO

April 14, 2011

I came to the Hard Rock Cafe for an MDA support group. We have the meeting room upstairs. This is located right on the 16th St. mall and was easy to get into, you have to find somewhere to park which might be difficult we parked at a lot not too far away when we got inside the lady at the front told us MDA group was upstairs and she pushed the elevator button for us. Upstairs there is a bathroom with an accessible stall and a sink that worked well.

The bathroom was good and would normally work great, but there was a wait because everyone needed the accessible stall. The meeting room is large even with a bunch of wheelchairs that take up a lot of space.

Choice City Butcher

June 3, 20011
There was a handicapped spot just down the road. There would not have been enough room to unload with a car in the next spot. Around the corner was another spot that would have worked better with enough room. When you go inside you immediately turn and go down a ramp which made it hard for someone to hold the door. My friend was there to help, but it was hard for him to do this. They had a sign at the bottom of the ramp that made me turn short and kind of off the side of the ramp which wasn't too high of a drop off. Inside was very crowded especially for a wheelchair. You have to order at one counter and go to another to pay. The counter to order at was fairly easy to get to, but it was hard for me to get to the counter where we had to pay so my friend took my money to pay for me. I probably could have got there, but it was crowded.

Tres Margaritas

March, 2011
There were two handicap spots with the loading zone in between in front of the restaurant. They both happened to be full at the time. When you get onto the sidewalk to the restaurant there are steps up to the door. I had to go around a couple of trees to a ramp that goes up to the door. Inside they have tile floors which were rough for me driving my wheelchair across. There were steps and a ramp to get to the main seating area, the ramp was slightly out of my way but not too bad. The table was okay but not great, there was enough room on the table and to get to the table.

La Casa Del Rey, Commerce City, CO

July 15, 2011

There were two handicap spots directly in front of the door with a big loading zone, but when we arrived they were both full. There were very many cars in the parking lot at this point, so we parked in a spot with no one around it so we could unload. It was easy to get inside and when inside they told us to sit wherever we would like. The first section was just booths, which would not work for me. Further into the restaurant there were multiple tables that were accessible. The table was a good height for my wheelchair and had enough room. The one problem I had, since I can't lift my drink glass I have to slide it, the table had a tablecloth that wasn't easy to slide things along so I had to be careful not to spill my drink. The bathrooms were in front of the restaurant I did not use them though, my mom did say the women's room was accessible.

March 13, 2011

The parking was okay basic gas station parking. It wasn't the easiest place to get into but it worked. The restroom was great there was a ton of room inside the bathroom and multiple handicap stalls, the sinks were easy to use as well.

We walked over toward the subway part and realized there was no table for me to sit at. They just have booths that I can't get into and tables with bolted down seats that were not movable. After my experience at lunch at the McDonald's in globe we decided to leave and go elsewhere.

We ended up driving through Gallup, New Mexico and found another subway which worked okay, but has since closed.

March 13, 2011

We stopped here for lunch on our way back home. The bathroom was not great but it worked, it had a enough room to get into and out. It was crowded inside; it may have been the only place in globe to eat. Many of the booths were closed which wouldn't have worked for me anyways since it wasn't wide enough for my wheelchair to get in. The only other place to sit that would work were tables with bolted down chairs that spun. If I came in from one end I could get under the table a little bit but then no one else had room to sit with me, so they sat at the next table.

Days Hotel, Mesa Arizona

Days Hotel, Mesa Arizona

March 6, 2011 through March 12, 2011

For the week that we're in Phoenix for spring training we stayed at the Days Hotel in Mesa Arizona. We always parked on the side of the building and had to go just around the side and follow the sidewalk to the door which wasn't too far. The door was not an automatic door, but most of the time it was propped open. In the lobby area there seemed to be plenty room, but there were never too many people there when we were there. The breakfast room had enough room to get around in it and the tables worked fine.

Our room which was a handicap room was on the third floor so we had to use the elevator. The room wasn't really huge and there were not very many places to put stuff so we just had to pile our stuff up when we went out for the day. There was enough room to get between the beds and could see the TV from there and was mostly out of everyone's way. The Hoyer lift couldn’t go under the bed so we had to slide me to the corner to get me up just like the other hotel we stayed at on the trip. The bathroom was good, and better than most since I could actually get in it with my wheelchair. There was some room around the toilet mostly on the right side of the toilet; the other side was kind of close to the wall. This made it a little hard for my parents to lock my shower/toilet chair so I wouldn't roll away but there was plenty of room on the other side so only one side got locked.

The sink wasn't the most accessible but at least I could get under it and use it, but there wasn't a lot of room for my parents to stand while helping me. The roll in shower worked okay it just was really small, we had to back me in and my feet were not in the shower and had to hang out. This wasn't the best roll in shower but it got the job done.

This wasn't the best hotel for accessibility, but I could do just about anything I needed to like use the sink and shower and get in and out of the building and the room.

There was some handicap parking in front and fairly close to the door, but the door wasn't automatic. There wasn't a lot of room in the hotel just about every place the breakfast room, lobby and other areas seemed tight. The room as well was very tight with not much room to do anything, even getting my wheelchair between the two beds. We had to use the Hoyer lift by scooting me to the corner of the bed and then getting up from there. So basically there was just enough room to sleep and that's about it.

This was in a outdoor shopping mall, we parked in a handicapped spot that was not very close to the restaurant but it had plenty of room around it. There was also parking closer to the restaurant. We had about a 10 minute wait, so we checked out the bathroom. A couple of people had to scoot their chairs in for me to get to the bathroom and when we got there were high chairs stacked in the way. The inside was good there was enough room, the sink worked good but the paper towels were too high to reach. Our table worked well there was enough room around it and it was high enough for me to get my wheelchair under. The place was a little crowded since it was full that night.

This place was good except for the high chairs in the way of the bathroom.

The parking was very good with plenty of handicap spots that were all available. There is a sidewalk that goes up to the entrance that was very accessible and not real far. The bathrooms were excellent with a ton of room inside including the stall in the sink area. They have multiple trails, but only a half-mile trail that is wheelchair accessible. Another trail I looked at the beginning of got rough quick so we didn't take it. The half-mile trail was nice with multiple places to sit down and rest.

Everything at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve that was supposed to be accessible was very accessible but most of the trails were not.

There was handicapped parking that would have worked in front, but we missed it, we parked partially in the spot and unloaded with space for other cars to get through, and then pulled back in. There were doors on both sides of the building, we went in the back. I did have a little trouble getting through the line, the posts with the rope type thing to keep people in line was a little hard to get through in some places. After you order at a window they give you a buzzer, and you have to go back up and carry your tray and fill your own drinks, which my parents could help me with. The table we sat at was partially outside, the table was a little low for me to get under it, I learned the hard way. They had two family type restrooms that were very accessible. They were excellent; they had plenty of room turn around and around the sink and toilet.

Update:

March 8, 2012

We returned to this place because of the food that we had a year ago, this time I had to go to the bathroom.  There was a chair that was a little bit in the way to get down the hall that led to the bathroom, but one of the staff members moved it. I was able to make it in to the bathroom, it wasn’t very big but it worked for me.  Everything else was the pretty much the same.

March 10, 2011

There was no parking at the place, but there was parking fairly close to the building. We parked around the corner, but it wasn't real far away though. We chose to sit inside, they asked inside or outside before we even went in the building. So they took this inside and moved the chair for me. There was enough room to get to the table, and I could get under it well.

March 9, 2013 Update
We parked in a different parking lot this time and this hotel's parking lot which was up a steep hill and didn't want to drive my wheelchair down the hill, so we dropped me off and dad went and parked after talking to the attendant.

March 9, 2011

When we got to the parking lot they wanted us to back into the parking spot, but we couldn't since our ramp is on the right side of the van. So we just parked in the spot, and we were able with enough room to get out of the van. From there we had to drive/walk quite a ways to the will call window to get our tickets. This was at the bottom of steps up to the main gate. So we had to drive/walk most of the way back from where we started to go up the ramp to get in the third-base gate. The concourse area was not very big and I thought was very crowded. There were some family rooms which worked very well, and were very accessible. Our seats were on the first base side, and were in the sun for about the first three innings which made it very hot. After the shade came it was very comfortable.

March 10, 2011

We went to Maryvale ballpark to see another Rockies spring training game at the Brewers stadium. There was plenty of handicap parking, but you would have to walk a little ways to get to the gate, but with my wheelchair I was fine. Inside could go all the way around on the concourse and not be too crowded with plenty of space. There was a family room close to our seats that was very accessible and worked great. Our seats were behind home plate at the top of the seats. The whole row was open with movable chairs for companions to sit.

Also while we were at the game George Karl from the Denver Nuggets was there watching the game with Rockies manager Jim Tracy. Since the Nuggets were in town to play that night. When he left he walked behind our seats, so I got to meet him and get a picture with him which was very exciting.

It was easy to get to the counter to order and they bring your food to you. The table was a handicap table; it had bolted down seats on one side and was open on the other. This made it very easy to get under.

Los dos Molinos, Mesa, AZ

March 8, 2011

The Handicap Spots in front were taken we parked the other side of the parking lot, since we were early there was room to unload. There was also parking in the back. The first table we tried I couldn't get to it very well, so we took another table. The table was large and I couldn't get completely under it. Since the table was so big my parents had to get up to help me if I needed help. The bathroom had one room that had enough room.

Desert Botanical Gardens

Information in this post is Accurate as of March 6, 2013

March 8, 2011

There was good handicap parking with plenty of spots. The bathrooms worked okay. The one by the store was fairly good inside stall had enough room, and there was enough room around the sink but around the door there was a pop machine close to the door which made it a little harder to get into. The other bathroom we used was kind of crowded inside. There were plenty of trails throughout the garden, which were easy to use for me in my wheelchair. There were also places to sit every so often along the trails. The one place that was hard to get around was the butterfly house. I could get in fine but when inside many people would not look where they're going and cut me off all the time, it was also very crowded inside.

Crackers and company, Mesa, AZ

March 8, 2011 and March 10, 2011

There was excellent handicap parking on the side of the building with plenty of room for our ramp. Then we had to follow sidewalk around to the front which was fine for me with my power wheelchair. The place was easy to get into with enough room in the front area as well as easy access to our table as well as many other tables. The bathroom would have worked for me, but I might've had trouble getting between all the tables but I didn't try.

Monti's La Casa Vieja

March 7, 2011
This place was really old which made it less accessible. The parking was in the back with multiple handicap spots that worked fine for us. The floor inside was rough, which made it a little to bumpy for me to drive on comfortably. To get to the bathroom we had to go through the bar, and a lady at the bar had to move for me to get through. When we got to the bathroom stall was not big enough for me to get into, so I had to park in front of it to go which kind of blocked most of the bathroom. When we finally ate the table was fine to get to, and I was able to get under it well.

Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Scottsdale, AZ

March 8, 2011

There were multiple parking lots, the one we parked in had only a handful of handicaped spots, that were full when we go there, but there was space with more than one spot that we park in and unloaded before parked next to us.  Then from the parking lot you had to walk a distance past the practice fields and batting cages to the stadium, but in my power chair it was just a large sidewalk to drive on that was uphill a little.  Inside the stadium was very accessible, there was a few steps here and there like just inside one of the entrances, but there were ramps to get everywhere, which I thought made me go the long way around, and a little out of the way, but I could get there.  The store was crowded, and difficult to move around for me.  They had many family restrooms that were excellent, with plenty of room inside.

Village Inn, Mesa, AZ

March 7, 2011

There was good handicapped parking in front, but was a little weird, there was a curb a little bit behind one of the spots.  The inside was fairly good nothing real bad or hard to get around.

There was handicap parking right up in front, with plenty of room.  There was also plenty of room inside, with the counter easy to get to.  The table was an accessible table, and worked really well, without the post in the way.  I did not see how the bathroom was.

newer review

The handicapped parking was in front of next building, but had enough room.  The place was full and crowded.  They took a number to a table for us and made sure I could get to and use the table.  the counter was easy to get to, it was a little crowded so I went around the long way to get to the table.  table was a little low for me to get under.  They do bring the food out to your table, but you do have to fill your own drinks, which my parents could do for me.

Conway's Red Top. Colorado Springs, CO

March 6, 2011

There were no spots really close to park, we parked at handicap parking in front of next store.  the building was a little older, there was enough room to get through the restaurant and the table worked fine.  The bathroom was a little hard to get in, I had to go in and turn right away, it also didn't have a ton of room.

Trip to Phoenix

My parents and I are taking a trip to Phoenix for Spring Training,  Updates coming soon.

Pita Pit Ft. Collins, CO

2/23/2011
I had lunch with a friend at Pita Pit, there was handicapped parking fairly close to the building, but we parked around the shopping center, since we saw a spot we figured we should take it, but the sidewalk around to the place was fine, easy to drive on.  Inside was spacious, easy to get to the counter to order and find a table with more space around one side for me to park my chair.  I didn't use the bathroom which was down a hallway.

Microtel Inn Special Needs

I came across the Microtel website, It talks about what all they are doing for travelers with disabilities,
http://www.microtelinn.com/MicrotelInn/control/trav_special_needs?variant=

I don't have any personal experience with these hotels, but I though this was useful info.

handicap Parking spots had loading area on wrong side for our ramp, but there was plenty of other parking with space. Inside was small, a few tables and booths the table worked well, the food was great by the way, my favorite mexican restaurant. the bathroom would of been ok, but there was stuff piled up in front, so I couldn't get there.
