Las Glorias Grill– Phoenix Arizona

March 8, 2016

There was construction going on in the parking lot and part of the building. I made it inside all right and to our table. It wasn’t very spacious inside and the restroom I couldn’t get in.

The Riparian Preserve At Water Ranch – Gilbert Arizona

March 8, 2016

There was good handicap parking and a decent bathroom. There is a trail and Boardwalk path around and over one of the lakes.  The rest of the lakes have trails around them most places were easy for me to drive my chair through, but there were a few places that were difficult. There were also benches every so often.

VMI – Phoenix Arizona

March 8, 2016

We visited the VMI factory where they convert vans to make them usable for people in wheelchairs. We were able to have a tour of the place. This was very neat to see how they basically strip down a new van then modify it and add a ramp then put it all back together.

El Guero Canelo Mexican Restaurant– Phoenix Arizona

March 8 and March 11, 2016

The handicap spot was kind of steep so getting in and out of the van was a bit harder. Once inside it is quite a big place and is fairly easy to get through except between some of the tables. The tables had the benches connected to them, but I was able to fit on the end of one pretty easily. They brought our food out to us, but I don’t think they normally do. I think I could’ve used the bathroom but I’m not sure if it would work.

Baby Kay’s – Mesa Arizona

March 7, 2016

This was located in a strip mall and there was a parking spot not too far away. Inside was nice and fairly spacious most of it anyways. There was a bench near the bathroom which was blocking part of the hall, but I think it might have been the owner or manager who happened to be there and moved it for us. The bathroom stall was okay, but it was quite crowded inside the stall by the sink.

Drury inn and suites Phoenix Airport – Phoenix Arizona

March 2 through March 11, 2015

We arrived a little late on the first night and we couldn’t get the hoyer lift in the right place to get me in and out of bed without moving the bed or the dresser. We went back to the front desk they said they could give us a regular room with a connecting room that had one King and was an accessible room.  we looked at the room it was crowded in the regular room and the one King had plenty of room with a roll in shower, but we didn’t know if I could be heard if I yelled for help in the middle of the night from the King room and I couldn’t use the two queen room because there was not very much space. So we went back down to see if we can have the original two queen room and have them move the bed over a bit or the dresser, so I could get through and to get the lift between the beds. The lady at the desk said they couldn’t do it right now and then let my dad talk to the manager on the phone. The manager said they could have the maintenance man help move the bed in the morning.  But that wouldn’t help us that night. So after a long discussion about what we would do that night in the room not being ADA compliant which the manager said it was although I couldn’t get to the bed. So eventually she said they would try to find someone to help move it. So soon after they found their shuttle driver who came up and helped my dad move the bed over a bit so I could get through to the lift between the beds and to the side of the bed. After this change the room was very nice and worked great.

We could get the Hoyer lift under the bed.

There was plenty of room in the bathroom and the roll in shower worked great.

The sink worked all right, but I did use the one in the kitchen area for brushing my teeth. The desk in the living room worked well too.

There was plenty of room in our suite. There were two doors with terraces. I could only get to one but couldn’t fully get out on the terrace.

Anzio’s Italian restaurant – Glendale Phoenix Arizona

March 6, 2016

There was a nice wide handicap spot which was very nice. Inside was maybe a little crowded between some of the tables and the restroom was not very accessible and I couldn’t get in the stall. Once we were done eating and were leaving someone was parked in the loading zone area so we didn’t have room to get in the van so we had to back out of the spot so we could get in the van.

Goodyear ballpark – Goodyear Arizona

March 6, 2016

The parking at the stadium was pretty good, but was in a different location for the handicap parking for that day only. We went to the third-base side will call window which was near the home plate gate. The home plate gate was all right and easy to get through.  Our seats were all right, they were on the first base side. They were right in front of the burger stand and the hamburger buns were blocking one of our spots but there were plenty of open seats, so it was not a problem for this day. The family restroom was excellent and one of the best I’ve seen a ballpark.
