Country Junction Dyersville Iowa

We were in Dyersville to see this field of dreams movie site, and we stopped here for dinner. There were two handicapped parking spots directly in front of the door, which worked good with plenty of loading space. When we got into the place, it looked good and easy to get into and to the table, but then we went to the restroom. When we got to the restroom there was no way I could get in. You had to go in and turn immediately, so we went to the front and they said that they didn't have another accessible restroom so we had to go back out to the car. We were really hungry so we didn't want to have to pack up and go somewhere else. The table was good and easy to get under and there was plenty of room around the table, so other than the bathroom this place is pretty good

Wendy's, Ames Iowa

There was handicapped parking that was good, but we had to cross the drive through/traffic lane to get to the building. In the building there was plenty of room to get in line and to get to the bathroom. In the dining area the tables were small and a little hard to get under but I got between two of them and used the tray to fill the gap. The bathroom stall and bathroom were very good and quite a bit of room, the sink was a little difficult to get to over in the corner but other than that it was very good bathroom.

Danish Windmill, Elkhorn IA

After our stop in Omaha we are continuing on our way to Milwaukee.   We made a stop in Elkhorn, Iowa.  There was a Danish Windmill that we decided to visit.  There was a handicapped parking spot near the windmill at the store.  There was a little bit of a bump to get in but not real bad and inside was a little crowded.  I could get into the bathroom, there was no door.  I however was not able to get into the stall.  Across the parking lot was a Danish restaurant, but in the entry there was a kind of a step or bump or ledge that I couldn’t get over to get in so we continued on our way.

Comfort suites, Council Bluffs IA

9/7- 9/8

A few years ago we stayed at this hotel and were surprised to find a roll in shower after their website didn’t mention it. So we remembered this place and we were coming through again so we made sure we booked the 2 Queen Accessible room again.

There was a roll in shower which worked okay it wasn't quite wide enough for my shower chair and the grab bar was kind of in my way a little bit, but it might help someone. The shower worked ok but it kind of made a mess when the water leaked out, but it wasn't too bad. The bathroom was a good size and I could actually use the sink unlike most hotels. The toilet was easy to get to maybe not quite enough room on one side for someone to help me but it was okay. I could park my wheelchair between the two beds with plenty of room and I could see the TV well from there. It also had plenty of room every where else.

Jerico's Omaha, Nebraska.

September 8, 2011.

There was a little bit of a bump to get on the ramp to the building and then when you get to the building you have to go in the door and immediately turn and go through another door which we were able to do with not too much trouble. When inside the table and chairs were a little close to each other which made it hard to get through to get to the bathroom. On the way to the bathrooms you pass the kitchen which was neat to be able to see into. When we got back to the bathroom, the door was a little tight to get into and then when in the bathroom I couldn’t fit in the stall so I parked in front of the urinal on the wall and went there. Then later when the meal came my mom started cutting up my prime rib when the waitress noticed her having to do this and she said they can cut it up in the back so she took the plate and she returned quickly with the plate with the meat cut up for me. So while the place was not very accessible from the bathroom to getting through the restaurant and the door, they were very accommodating in having my meat cut up which helped make the meal with a great prime rib even better.

Cracker Barrel, Council Bluffs Iowa

September 8, 2011.

There was plenty of handicap parking just like all Cracker Barrel's but this handicap parking was on the side of the building so you would have to walk around to the front. It was like any other Cracker Barrel some areas of the store are a little tight. The table was okay; it had enough room and was fairly easy to get under. The legs might've been a little close together, but it was okay. The bathroom was pretty decent bathroom just like most Cracker Barrels.

Subway Lincoln NE

9/7/2011

The Subway was in a gas station there was handicapped parking right out front but you had to either go in the gas station or in the restaurant at the other end and the subway was in between. The line and the counter work just like any other subway. The table we picked was a handicap table but the trashcan was blocking part of it but I could get in from the end. I had to sit at the end of the table instead of the side that was the handicap side but it worked okay. The bathroom was in the gas station part. You had to find your way back to it but when I got there it was a pretty good bathroom. The stall had plenty of room and there was plenty of room around the sink and was easy to use.
